In Norse mythology, Mjǫlnir is the hammer of Thor, a major god associated with thunder in Norse mythology. Distinctively shaped, Mjölnir is depicted in Norse mythology as one of the most fearsome weapons, capable of leveling mountains. Though generally recognized and depicted as a hammer, Mjölnir is sometimes referred to as an axe or club. In the 13th century Prose Edda, Snorri Sturluson relates that the Svartálfar Sindri and Brokkr made Mjöllnir at the command of Loki.

Every one of us, on a daily basis, makes determinations as to right and wrong, good and bad. As adults, these decisions can range from breaking a diet to trying to beat the IRS, and the consequences vary from not fitting into 32-inch jeans or that size 5 dress to spending the rest of our lives behind bars or possibly sitting on death row.

The real question that should be asked as we make these decisions is, “How did we learn what is right and wrong”. As we ponder this question, we are left with the realization that since we learned these values, many things have changed in the world, and as we try to pass a sense of right and wrong onto the only worthwhile investment in our lives (which happens to also be the only one that doesn’t come with an instruction manual), the far more important question is, “How do parents learn what to tell their children not to do?”.

Community Challenge®

Designed to be a cross between Extreme Makeover®, American Idol®, Survivor®, and Habitat for Humanity®, our goal is to go into areas devastated by natural disasters and, via the community building experience, help get the area back on its feet. This will be accomplished by working with local economic and redevelopment authorities, local religious and nonprofit organizations and the families themselves. Once the primary needs are identified, we will contact the families affected by the disaster (flood, hurricane, fire, etc.) and assist them in the rebuilding and healing process.
